Mena Alexandra Suvari (born on 13 February 1979) is an American model, actress and fashion designer. model. Her modeling career began in 1990. She soon shifted into acting following appearances as a guest on TV shows such as Boy Meets World or High Incident. Her film debut came in the 1997 drama film Nowhere. Following her appearance in American Beauty (for which she was awarded the BAFTA Award) and American Pie which brought her more attention, she made her move into more prominent role. Her next appearance was in Loser (2000) which was a co-production with American Pie actor Jason Biggs. Later she played the lead character on the screen in Sugar & Spice (2002). Spun, a independent drama from 2002, and the Trauma, a (2004) thriller were both featured in her career. She also appeared in the HBO's drama series Six Feet Under in 2004 she received a nomination as an Best Cast of the 2005 Screen Actors Guild Awards. In 2008, she was cast in several films which included Day of the Dead The Mysteries of Pittsburgh as well as the film adaptation to The Garden of Eden. Suvari has been featured in fashion-related blogs and in various magazines such as Vogue as well as Lancome Paris Adaptive print ads. Suvari has been a defender and advocate for The African Medical and Research Foundation which is a well-known organisation that helps provide aid to Africans. Also, she is involved in women's empowerment issues and collaborates with various organizations to help raise awareness about breast cancer as well as the End Violence Against Women Campaign.
